2016 Citroen DS 3 revealed
Citroen updates its upmarket hatchback and cabriolet with design tweaks to cope with Mini’s latest models.
DS, Citroen’s standalone brand for the premium car market, has revised its smallest model, the DS 3.
Also available in open-top Cabrio form, the Mini-rivalling hatchback gets new design features, more personalisation possibilities and enhanced functionality.
The Citroen DS 3 now also the DS Automobiles front end with “DS Wings” that are sculpted around a vertically-oriented grille.
The DS design team has retained much of the car’s original look, including the floating roof, two-tone body/roof colours and the shark fins on the sides, which have defined the DS 3’s personality.
Customers can now choose from 78 body/roof colour combinations and four fabric roofs for the DS 3 Cabrio.
Inside, there’s a new 7-inch colour touchscreen which provides simpler access to all of the main vehicle functions. It also houses Mirror Screen, a connectivity solution compatible with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
There’s a range of three- and four-cylinder engines, topped by 208hp 1.6-litre petrol-turbo unit for the Citroen DS 3 Performance model. It’s paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox with shorter gear ratios.
The latest-generation 6-speed automatic gearbox is mated to the 110hp three-cylinder petrol-turbo engine.
The Citroen DS 3 Performance version comes with a Torsen limited slip differential for enhanced traction and handling. For even more agility, the suspension has been lowered by 15mm and the front and rear tracks have been widened by 26mm and 14mm respectively.
The DS 3 Performance model is also fitted with larger 323mm brake discs at the front and 249mm discs at the rear.
