The rich Italian flavors of pesto marry well with tuna steak.
1 bunch basil
1 bunch italian parsley leaves
1 shallot, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup pine nuts
1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 each ahi tuna steaks, 8 ounces
Preheat oven to broil.
For pesto: In a food processor, pulse together basil, parsley, shallot, garlic, both nuts, olive oil, salt and pepper; set aside.
Place tuna steaks on a lightly oiled cookie sheet. Broil about 4 minutes per side, until internal temperature reaches 115 to 120 degrees F.
Spoon pesto generously over top of tuna and serve.
