Here is the Kia Niro 2017, a new-genre hybrid SUV
The Kia Niro presented at the Auto Show in Toronto in 2016
On the occasion of the Auto Shows in Chicago and Toronto, Kia has unveiled its first car designed entirely as a hybrid, the Niro. However, unlike other manufacturers in this segment, the Korean manufacturer has chosen to make an SUV rather than a compact car.
It is a four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle 1.6-liter that takes care of generating most of the power, while an electric motor and a battery of 1.56 kilowatt carry the power to 146 horsepower and 195 pounds -foot couple. According to Kia, this set should consume as little as 4.7 liters per 100 km.
Among the technical advances of Niro include an electronic assistant helping you maximize your fuel consumption and an energy controller that will use GPS data to predict when the SUV will need more energy – for example by mounting a coast – and thus optimize the electrons stored in the battery.
In addition, plug-in hybrid versions and the 100% electric Niro will eventually be marketed.
